A silver spangled sky?

I came across something interesting in The Hindu two days back (6/8/2009, page 17, ‘Snapshots’ section). The brightest star in Orion, Betelgeuse, is apparently going to explode soon and can possibly be seen even in broad daylight!

Really hoping the clouds will be kind when it happens! (Even though it’s bound to happen few thousands of years later, the whole idea of a celestial marvel is it’s unpredictability… isn’t it?!)
